I had  gone for  a  walk hoping to see a weasel .

As I walked I heard a distressing squawking and I saw that flash of brown. It occurred to me that the weasel was unnaturally hopping about like it was treading on a hot surface.

Suddenly it was obvious it had a large bird on its back and this was a struggle for life.

The  woodpecker was vigorously pecking at the weasel’s head. It looked like  it  was taking  revenge for having previously been joy-ridden by a weasel!!




I assumed that, even if people hadn't seen the original photo and the photographer's account,  everyone would realise that this a joke. Judging by a couple of comments elsewhere this is - extraordinarily - not the case.  

So I have to point out, that the photo above is photoshopped - I'm not trying to pass this off as a genuine photo -  and that I didn't, in fact, see a Green Woodpecker  taking  revenge for having previously been joy-ridden by a weasel.
